PT 778 - Short Term Integrated Clinical Experience III - Pediatric Interventions


Prerequisites, enrolled in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, current CPR certification, professional liability insurance, and updated health record per programmatic requirements. Corequisites, PT 647 .  This course is a short term integrated and practice-based experience with emphasis on development of physical therapy skills learned thus far, breadth of application, problem-solving and active involvement with a pediatric population of participants from the community. Skills utilized and assessed will be based on those acquired to this point of the curriculum and will engage as best possible, cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. Instruction and supervision provided by a licensed physical therapist who will assess and refine student abilities to demonstrate safety, communication/interpersonal, clinical reasoning, accountability, professional behavior, data collection and documentation skills. Balanced Families (BF) will host volunteer pediatric participants and their families from the local community who present with ongoing functional limitations related to their affliction(s) and status based on mobility impairments.  Other pediatric interventions may also be offered. Pass/No Pass. (Offered as needed.) ½ credit
