Return to: Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences
The Department of English in Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences offers an accelerated undergraduate/graduate program. This program enables Chapman students to begin taking graduate coursework during the senior year of their B.A. program and to complete the M.A. the following year. Students apply to the M.A. during their junior year or first semester senior year. Students will receive conditional admission to the program, pending completion of their B.A. degree as stipulated in the graduate catalog. If accepted into the accelerated graduate program, undergraduate students may take, and share, up to 15 credits, between the undergraduate and graduate degree. Students should check with their advisor and financial aid regarding sharing credits. Accelerated program students must have either already earned 90 credits or be enrolled in and anticipate having earned 90 credits earned before the first day of the graduate course(s) in which they wish to enroll. See Accelerated Undergraduate/Graduate Programs in the Academic Policies and Procedures section of the catalog.
Any 500-level course that is approved for M.A. credit is eligible to count toward the accelerated program. Students who wish to apply for the Graduate Teaching Assistant Program must take ENG 580 during the spring semester of their senior year. Students complete the remaining 21 credits of the M.A. degree, including all required courses, by the end of the graduate year.
