This is a required course for all Chapman University School of Pharmacy student pharmacists. This is the first in a series of experiential education courses to provide for the review, synthesis, and application of what has been learned in the didactic portion of the curriculum during P1, Trimester 1. This course will expose student pharmacists to a variety of pharmacy practice experiences and personnel so that they can observe the delivery of healthcare and appreciate how personnel prepared for their positions. Student pharmacists will prepare an interview instrument to use to conduct comprehensive interview(s) with pharmacy personnel during their visits. Another component of experiential education will be comprised of a skills laboratory where student pharmacists will focus upon the development of basic skill techniques following short, contextual preparation on the topic. Structured practical experiences in a healthcare setting or community outreach program are designed to develop social responsibility and professional attitudes while providing student pharmacists with exposure to diverse patient populations and contemporary, local health care issues.
