PT 678 - Short Term Integrated Clinical Experience II - Stroke Boot Camp

Prerequisites, enrolled in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, PT 510, PT 510L, PT 511, PT 511L, PT 512, PT 512L, PT 525, PT 525L, PT 527, PT 530, PT 531, PT 536, PT 536L, PT 546, PT 546L, current CPR certification, professional liability insurance, and updated health record per programmatic requirements. Corequisite, PT 640, PT 643, PT 643L, PT 691. This course is a short-term, integrative, and hands-on experience with emphasis on the application and execution of physical therapy skills based on the student’s current level of education in the DPT program. It provides multiple opportunities for problem solving through Interprofessional activities and active involvement with persons from the community with upper motor neuron lesions, with an emphasis on chronic stroke. Areas of student assessment will include the following domains: cognitive, psychomotor, and affective. Instruction and supervision will be provided by licensed physical therapists who will assess and mentor student abilities to demonstrate safety, communication/interpersonal, clinical reasoning, accountability, professional behavior, data collection and documentation skills.
